Sing Street (2016)

This film is set in the 1980s in Dublin when a boy tries to impress a girl so he does it in the way he could think in that moment, starting a band and asking her to be in the music video. The original songs which were written for the band 'Sing Street' such as "Drive it like you stole it" and "Brown shoes" are really quite representative of the synth futuristic genre of the 80s including Joe Jackson, Pet Shop boys, Spandau Ballet and Duran. With actors like Jack Reynor and Aidan Gellen playing minor roles to unknown amazing actors such as Ferdia Walsh-Peelo and Mark McKenna it really increases the vulnerability of the plot however, it is only vulnerable for the first 5 minutes and then it gains its confidence as does most of the films which are directed by John Carney such as begin Again and Once.

I rate this film a 18/20.
